Are You Hosting A Baby Shower?

Are you hosting a baby shower for one of your friends? If so, you might be looking for ideas that might make the shower an exceptionally memorable one. From planning fun baby shower games to making refreshments that include baby rattle designs for the cookies, here are some ideas that might help you.

Baby Shower Games - Before you plan a single game, be sure that the mommy-to-be even likes games. If she doesn't, there are still very nice ways to pass the time at your baby shower. For example, you could give each guest an index card and a pen. Have them write down advice for the new mommy. You might end up with some funny advice like, Hold your nose when you change poopie diapers, or you might end up with tender advice like, Always sing your baby to sleep.

If the honored guest does like shower games, think of playing guessing games. For example, write down statements like, This guest comes from a family that produces twins. Another statement might say something like, This guest never baby sat. Another statement might say This guest planned to have only one child, but now she's shooting for at least six children. As each question is read, have guests choose which person matches the statement.

Baby Shower Refreshments - Think of serving only finger foods. Don't you think that would make serving the refreshments and then cleaning up easier?

For example, consider having fruit kebabs already prepared. To go with the fruit, consider serving tiny croissant sandwiches with fillings like chicken salad, egg salad, and pineapple cream cheese spread. A vegetable tray would be a good idea, too.

Pay special attention to the desserts. For example, think of making cookies that look like rattles. Cookie cutters from companies such as Truly Mad Plastics LLC will be helpful. If you know the sex of the baby, decorate them with that in mind. For example, if the guest of honor is having a boy, decorate the baby rattle cookies with a little blue flower. And, of course, a pink flower will be perfect for the baby rattle cookies if the baby is a girl.

The great thing about making baby rattle cookies is that you can prepare them ahead of time and then freeze them. That will just mean that you're not tied up making the cookies on the day of the shower.

If you do decide to serve baby rattle cookies, consider also having things like chocolate covered strawberries to go with them.

About Me
The Real Grocery Game: Finding Value In Supermarkets

When I was a kid, one of the most enjoyable routine errands I ever got to run with my mother was when she went grocery shopping. While many kids might grumble and groan about a task like this, I always loved it. Mom went out of her way to make it engaging, though. She taught me about all sorts of fresh produce, meats, and healthy food choices as well as allowing me some less-than-healthy indulgences. It made the grocery store a place I loved and appreciated, as I still do to this day. I wanted to share my story, and my experiences, in the hopes of helping others find the same value in their weekly grocery shopping trips.
